Stadiums are fast becoming big business for the country’s leading chefs and hospitality groups, with Matt Moran getting in on the mega venues.

The chef and Solotel restaurateur has been appointed culinary ambassador of Accor Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park and CommBank Stadium in Parramatta, which are part of Venues NSW.

“I’m looking forward to sharing my food philosophy with the chefs who cater for such large numbers of guests at every event,” says Moran.

“At the heart of everything I do is a passion for quality produce that is fresh and seasonal, and I’m excited by the challenge of bringing my food philosophy to life at these fantastic venues.”

Moran and his team will bring a produce-driven culinary approach to the stadiums via bespoke menus for corporate and member experiences as well as to the wider food offering found in general admission areas.

“The team at Accor Stadium and CommBank Stadium is already committed to sourcing locally grown, fresh food which is delivered by incredible chefs. I can’t wait to share some of our ideas and offerings and lift the stadium food offering further,” says Moran.

“For grand final day at Accor Stadium, there will be a tender chargrilled harissa Bannockburn chicken and slow-roasted Moran family lamb shoulder on the menu.”

Darryl Kerry, CEO of the two stadiums, says Moran will help the venues raise the bar when it comes to options.

“Matt Moran is an Australian food icon who has a real passion for delivering exceptional culinary experiences and we believe he can help us achieve a new level of in-stadium food offerings while showcasing the best of New South Wales produce,” he says.

The news comes off the back of Merivale’s venture into stadiums, with the group recently kicking off its food and beverage offering at the newly launched Allianz Stadium in Sydney which opened over the weekend.
