Luke Mangan will add to his portfoilo with Luke’s Kitchen, set to launch on Thursday 15 February in Waterloo.

Luke’s Kitchen will be located at 8 Danks Street, where MOJO by Luke Mangan was formerly located, with MOJO moving to the Sydney CBD later in the year.

“MOJO has a big city vibe that belongs in the CBD, while Luke’s Kitchen is a true neighbourhood eatery,” says Mangan. “We wanted to introduce the flagship in our Waterloo home.”

The menu will span moreish snacks, share plates and sides with a modern Australian influence. Menu items include Tasmanian ocean trout sashimi with nam jim and coconut yoghurt and barbecued West Australian marron with peach, celery and truffle honey.

“It’s my type of food,” says Mangan. “We’re focusing on beautiful products with a bit of fragrant spice delivered in a way that is clean and healthy.”

The kitchen will be headed up by 29-year-old chef Mathew Leighton, a Sydney native who has worked at a number of Mangan’s Asia-Pacific restaurants including Glass Brasserie, Salt Tapas & Bar, Salt Grill & Sky Bar, Luke’s and Chicken Confidential.

The cocktail list has been curated by group mixologist Karl Higgins, and features a selection of top-shelf spirits, wines by the glass and bottles.

Signature cocktails include The Australian by Luke Mangan (gin, Cointreau, Hennessy, lime juice, Luke Mangan syrup [lemongrass, ginger, kaffir lime], cranberry juice and lime zest.

Further roll-out and expansion of Luke’s Kitchen will be in sight for 2018.
