Australian chef Louis Tikaram has announced he has left Los Angeles restaurant E.P & L.P. and will return home to Mullumbimby in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.

Tikaram has spent the past five years as executive chef of the West Hollywood venue, which became known for its culinary ethos that championed Thai, Vietnamese and Fijian flavours.

Owners David Combes and Grant Simile released a statement on Tikaram’s departure: “After 5 incredible years, Louis has created an amazing team & lasting culinary legacy at EP & LP — the team will continue to build on the solid foundations created by this talented chef … ”

Tikaram and his wife Jorja have a second baby on the way and will move back to their hometown with their daughter Maelle.

There’s no restaurant news just yet for Tikaram, with the chef instead focusing on his growing family and reconnecting with friends.

Before his move to Los Angeles, Tikaram worked at Sydney institutions Bentley and Longrain and spent time in kitchens in Barcelona and Whistler.
