Sydney’s CBD will host a long lunch next month on a scale the city has never seen before.

On 3 December, diners will take to George Street to experience the very best in food and beverage during the George St. Long Lunch Spectacular.

“We feel this is the lunch party that Sydney deserves after all these months of lockdown,” says Barry Wafer from Rizer, one of the organisers of the event.

“We know that people are excited to get back into the city and … we’ve all been missing the vibrancy and brilliance of its restaurants and bars.”

A 600-person feast will be held on George Street outside the Hilton, with the collaborative lunch seeing Palisa Anderson (Chat Thai); Michael Nicolian (Continental Deli); Mike McEnearney (Kitchen by Mike) and Luke Mangan (Glass Brasserie) team up.

Anderson will create canapés to kick off the three-course meal with canapes including tempura eggplant with tamarind palm sugar caramel and grilled pork skewers.

Nicolian will take care of the entree which will see charcuterie plates with meats from LP’s Quality Meats and pickled vegetable barigoule with Romesco sauce.

McEnearney will prepare his signature roast chicken for main along with baked pumpkin before the meal is tied off on a sweet note with Mangan’s dessert of summer berries with soft meringue, lemon and custard.

Diners are also set to enjoy drinks covering gin and tonics, Heaps Normal non-alcoholic beer, Philter Brewing’s XPA and wines from New South Wales.

Tickets are now on sale for the event, which will run from 12-3pm.
