Melbourne’s South Yarra Suburb is set to welcome LK Hospitality Group’s Yugen Restaurant next month.

The Japanese-inspired concept is the most recent venture from the group after opening spin-off venue Yugen Tea Bar last year.

Situated below the tea bar in the former Q Bar site, the space is divided into three parts: a main restaurant, six-seater omakase and the Golden Orb private dining area, which is suspended from the ceiling.

Leading the kitchen is Head Chef Alex Yu (Sokyo Sydney) and Head Sushi Chef Samuel Chee (Kisumé, Nobu) under the culinary direction of Stephen Nairn.

The menu includes dishes such as jamon and snapper sashimi with shiso soy, Abrolhos Island scallops and green nahm jimand a Wagyu beef hotpot with mushroom & Sichuan butter.

In the omakase section on the mezzanine level guests can enjoy kobujime, abalone, A5 wagyu, engawa sushi.

The drinks list has been curated by Beverage Consultant Ryan Kimball and features a selection of specialty sakes, wines and cocktails.

Yugen is located on 605 Chapel Street, South Yarra.
