Melbourne-based Chef and Restaurateur Jessi Singh is set to bring his Indian eatery Daughter in Law to Byron Bay.
It’s the third outlet for the restaurant, which also has locations in Adelaide and Melbourne.
The 65-seat venue will open on Fletcher Street and offer ‘inauthentic Indian food’, according to Singh.
“There is no such thing as authentic Indian food,” says the chef. “There
are no recipes, and everything is passed on through the generations in the kitchen verbally. Daughter in Law represents my travel journey throughout the world, so it’s global food with an Indian twist;
Diners can look forward to a menu made with local produce sourced from nearby farmers markets and a beverage list crafted by Sommelier Bhatia Dheeraj.
The drinks list will see local and international wines sitting alongside beers and ciders in self-serve fridges as well as cocktails such as Indian spiced sangria and the Daughter in Law, which sees Brookie’s gin combined with tandoori-fired pineapple and cardamom lime.
Come mid-June, the doors will officially open and while the menu has yet to be released, here’s hoping the Indian fried chicken and vegan yellow dhal make an appearance.
The restaurant will operate seven nights from 5pm until late.
