Last night the Melbourne Food & Wine announced the winner of the 2022 Hostplus Hospitality Scholarship and the inductees in the Legends program.
Pt Leo Estate’s Chef de Partie Sarah Cremona has been named the winner of this year’s $10,000 scholarship.
“Taking the plunge into the hospitality industry and stepping away from my executive position in
human resources is truly the proudest I have been of myself in many years,” says Cremona who was commended for her dedication.
Since 2014 the scholarship has been awarded to support the next generation of Australian hospitality talent.
In addition, the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival Legends Program has recognised contributions made by key figures across the industry.
This year the judging panel consisted of Food Writers Richard Cornish and Jill Dupleix, Herald-Sun Food Editor and Critic Kara Monssen and Melbourne Food & Wine Festival’s Industry Lead Daisy Slade and Creative Director Pat Nourse.
Seven local figures were inducted in the Legends Hall of Fame including:
- Fisherman Bruce Collis
- Pastry Chef and Chocolatier Kirsten Tibballs
- Restaurateur Caterina Borsato
- Drink Retailer Bruce Chalmers
- Chef Sonia Anthony
- Sustainable Winemaker Hayley Purbric
- Chef Shannon Martinez
- The late Pamela Bakes who was named as an Honourary Legend
