Guzman y Gomez (GYG) has opened the doors to its first Australian flagship taqueria in Sydney’s Australia Square.

Spanning 120 square metres and seating up to 80 people, the new Australia Square taqueria is open from breakfast through to dinner. The menu stays true to GYG’s street food inspired roots, but also offers items exclusive to the new venue.

The breakfast menu includes pastries by Sonoma Bakery and barista made coffee, while later on in the day margaritas made with Herradura tequila will be on offer, as will wine supplied by Vasse Felix in Western Australia’s Margaret River.

The opening of the new taqueria coincides with Guzman y Gomez's 10th birthday.

“Guzman y Gomez is growing fast and we’re in a position to explore big ideas for the brand. One of the things that sets GYG apart is that we’ve never been limited to a single, carbon copy format, but create taquerias with a sense of individuality. Australia Square has been a chance for us to continue experimenting with fitouts and styles as we move into 2017,” said Steven Marks, co-founder and managing director.

“We are proud to be fast food and have no intention of stopping our expansion of food courts, strips and drive-thru taquerias, but this flagship taqueria will create a whole new way for guests to enjoy Guzman y Gomez and we couldn’t be more excited to bring it to them.”
