The new look and renamed Ground Floor at Newtown Social Club has been unveiled, boasting a bar, a 50 seat dining area and a new cocktail lounge.
The dining area is now brighter and lighter with a new vertical garden and booth seating; the front bar has been repainted and had planter seats brought in; and the cocktail lounge features a new mix of retro tables and chairs.
The drinks menu has been given a complete overhaul, with a new wine list featuring a number of organic and biodynamic wines and locally produced spirits such as Archie Rose’s Signature Gin and Stone Pine Dead Man’s Drop Black Spiced Rum. There’s also a new cocktail list boasting a Blood Orange Margarita, a Fireball Sour and the classic Old Fashioned.
The all-day food offering has also had a complete overhaul and now includes a number of weekly specials as well as a new signature meatball-focused menu that allows diners to compile their own dish by selecting a meatballs, a sauce and a side.
Other menu items include free range chicken, Monterey cheese and harissa spices; Berkshire pork with whole river shrimps, ginger and spring onion; MSC New Zealand hoki fillet with thyme, dill and chives; and tofu, eggplant and pesto. All produce is locally sourced, sustainable and free range where possible.
Chris Aitken, venue manager at Newtown Social Club, said “The new management team and I hope that this latest update to our historic venue will really put the heart back into the venue and remind people that this is a great place to drink, eat and socialise every day of the week, not just somewhere to drop in for a quick beer before a gig. With our delicious new food and drink menus, we aim to turn Ground Floor at Newtown Social Club into one of the area’s hottest new drinking and dining destinations.”
