Auckland restaurateur Scott Brown has opened Good One Café in Sydney’s Bondi Beach.

It’s the first local venue for Aussie-born Brown, who is the co-founder of New Zealand-based Hip Group. The business runs a number of eateries including the highly lauded Ortolana.

Federico Giro has taken the reigns as head chef and previously worked with Hip Group at The Store at Britomart and Waihi Beach Hotel in New Zealand.

Dishes include hung yoghurt with honeycomb and figs, freshly baked croissants and a green omelette with kale and courgette.

“Bondi is [an] incredible melting pot of cultures and sub-cultures, so we’ve been conscious to create an expansive menu that caters for all diets and food preferences,” says Brown.

“The same recipe for success that has worked for me in Auckland is being applied here in Sydney, and that’s utilising the best quality local and seasonal ingredients and focusing on providing the best possible customer service.”
