Sydney institution Golden Century have confirmed they will open a new Chinese venue in the CBD.
The restaurant will be located in The Exchange Building designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma and is set to target a new generation of diners.
But customers will have to wait a while until they can test out the new concept, with an open date slated for mid-2019.
The family-run business is run by founders Eric and Linda Wong along with their son Billy, who is the director of The Century at The Star.
Billy is the brains behind the new launch, but the restaurant will not be a mirror image Golden Century.
“The new restaurant is where we can be more playful with dishes and the space, to welcome a new generation of diners,” Billy tells Broadsheet.
Expect to see barbecue duck on the menu alongside plenty of seafood options.
“Don’t be surprised if we introduce elements from different provincial cuisines all around China,” says Billy. “That’s taking the next step, introducing a more contemporary take on Chinese food.”
More details to come.
