Former Applejack Hospitality group bars manager Lachy Sturrock has teamed up with the Alfred Hotel’s Sam Smith and publicans Bill Smith and Lee Dillon to open a bar and bistro on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.

Folly’s will take over the former location of the Epoque Belgian Beer Cafe and is currently in the midst of a renovation, with an official opening date in November to come.

At its completion, Folly’s will have a bar at the front and a bistro experience at the back of the venue along with a private dining room for 30 guests.

“We’re looking to bring back the cosiness and great energetic buzz that space used to have, and recreate that neighbourhood feel where locals happily come in a few times a week, always finding something new to try and experience,” says Sturrock.

The venue is gearing up to be something new for the area, with former Icebergs, Amare, and Fauna chef Antonio Espiritu heading up the kitchen and working with a Mediterranean-leaning culinary brief.

While the menu is in the works, beers from Freshwater Brewing Company, Philter, and Capital Brewing Co will be on tap, and the wine offering will cover between 80-100 options sourced from local makers as well as old-world producers from France and Italy.

Folly’s operate from 3pm until late Tuesday to Thursday and from 12pm until late Friday to Sunday.
