Now in its eighth year, the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards are calling for entries, with two categories specifically targeting Australian foodservice venues.

The annual competition is broken into three sections: UK, UK & International, and International. Within the International section, venues from Europe, The Americas, the Middle East and Africa, and Australia & the Pacific are specifically targeted, with entries from both restaurants and bars welcomed.

Categories within the UK & International section include Lighting, Pop-Up, Colour, Caf, Nightclub, Street food and Outside, while categories specifically targeting businesses located within the UK include Fast/Casual, Restaurant or Bar in a heritage building, London Restaurant, Pub and Restaurant or Bar in a hotel.

The competition is dedicated solely to businesses within the foodservice sector, and sees entries from the world’s best architects, designers and hospitality operators. Last year, three Australian venues were crowned with awards: Bond Lounge, designed by Hachem (Nightclub category), ACME, designed by Luchetti Krelle (Australia and Pacific restaurant) and Archie Rose Distilling Co, designed by Acme & Co (Australia and Pacific bar).

There are a host of judges sitting on the panel this year, including two from Australia: Justin Hemmes, CEO of the booming Sydney hospitality group, Merivale, and Neale Whitaker, editor in chief of Vogue Living (Australia).

Entries close on 17 April, with finalists announced on 14 June. The winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony and party in central London on 29 September.
