Zetland’s Cafe Vité has re-opened as Cicco Zetland. The venue, which was established by Tony Pacitto in 2014, previously offered in-house roasted coffee and Italian inspired cafe fare.
The family owned and operated venue is now run by son Alex, who’s been behind the coffee machine for a number of years. The younger Pacitto will follow in his father’s footsteps, maintaining a cafe by day and a trattoria and pizzeria by night.
“Cicco Zetland encompasses everything I feel about food & wine, as a boy I would eat anything and everything in sight and was as chubby as they come,” says Alex Pacitto. “The idea of Cicco is to embrace this and let everyone bring out their inner ‘cicciotto’. Having operated for so many years as a Cafe & Roastery, I thought the time was right to expand our offering into the evening by creating a Trattoria & Pizzeria by night. Paying homage to my Italian heritage however embracing the abundance of delicious, fresh produce we have available in Australia.”
The menu is ‘fatta in casa’ — homemade — with Cicco Coffee roasted on site and egg pasta, pizza alla romana and panino all freshly made using local ingredients. Gnocco Fritto with marinated verdue, pickles, salumi and formaggi, eye fillet tartare, and seafood crudite are all on the list of starters. Pastas such as the cacio e pepe with orecchiette and guanicale and linguine marinara sit alongside Roman-style pizza while mains include veal Milanese with rocket and lemon.
In addition to the in-house seasonal coffee blends for filter and espresso single origins, Cicco also serves a boutique selection of Italian and natural wines and aperitivi, plus cocktails, including Negroni.
The open-plan and alfresco dining area has a modern industrial feel with exposed brick, bare concrete panels and black steel accents featuring a custom marble bar and open plan kitchen showcasing the all-new pizza oven and pre-existing Probat 12kg coffee roasting machine. By night the vine draped exterior will be lit with fairy lights.
Cicco Zetland is open six days for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
