Solotel Group has announced the closure of Chiswick in the Art Gallery of New South Wales after seven years.

The restaurant will shutter in January 2021, but it’s not the end of the road for the group and the gallery.

Solotel’s Matt Moran will continue as a culinary adviser to the gallery and will announce a new collaboration shortly.

Solotel CEO Justine Baker says the group will focus on their other 25 venues.

“This decision means that we will be consolidating our Chiswick brand back to our Woollahra restaurant,” says Baker.

Art Gallery of NSW Director of Development John Richardson said the partnership had been “highly successful” and acknowledged the difficulties 2020 has brought.

“As we look to the next chapter for this truly unique venue, we look forward to working with Matt with an exciting year of exhibitions and events ahead of us.”

Chiswick at the Gallery will offer the Archibald dining package until January, which sees a menu inspired by the stories of finalists Tianli Zu, Jane Guthleben and Jonathan Dalton.
