Betty’s Burgers opens first site outside QLD [gallery]

Queensland burger shack, Betty’s Burgers & Concrete Co., has just opened its fourth venue, this time at 97 Elizabeth Street in Melbourne.

The flagship store was built on Hastings Street in Noosa in December 2014, with a second site opening shortly after in Surfers Paradise, and a third on 2 November 2016, at The Kitchens in Robina.

The Melbourne addition is Betty’s first foray out of Queensland and will serve the brand’s signature range of burgers such as the Betty’s Classic and the more health-conscious Bare Betty, as well as its house-made frozen custard ice-creams, Concretes, with mix-ins such as chocolate-chip cookie dough and Persian fairy-floss.

Thickshakes come in six flavours, including caramel, strawberry and chocolate-peanut-butter.

The Betty’s Burgers brand was brought to life by hospitality professional David Hales, and his team includes Nik Rollison – who partnered with David Chang for the launch of the Three Hat rated, Momofuku Seiobo – as well as Jol Robuchon-trained chef, Michael Tripp.

Paul Kelly Design has installed handmade floor tiles, custom imported Italian wall tiles, hand-painted shingles, and the one of a kind custard machine. The site has a pastel-coloured design aesthetic that pays homage to the 1950’s.

Betty’s Burgers has plans to open five more Australian stores: one in Darling Harbour, two in Brisbane, and one each for Pacific Fair on the Gold Coast and Toowoomba.
