Waterloo has welcomed a new caf to its streets with the opening of Barista & Cook.
Officially opening its doors on Monday 25 January, the caf is the brainchild of Alan Thompson who successfully operated Surry Hills caf Bang Bang for six years.
Thompson says that the vision for his new venue is to create beautifully presented, contemporary caf food, along with excellent coffee. The menu comprises a balance of both healthy and indulgent options including coconut puddings, fresh house-made juice, grass fed burgers, and the signature coffee slider with ice cream, honey and brioche.
The venue will also offer a wide selection of coffee options at its dedicated brew bar including pour over coffee such as Chemex and V60 using single origin Gypsy Espresso beans.
The kitchen will be headed up by Adrian Borg who brings over ten years’ experience to the role. Most recently, Borg ran the kitchen at Ashfield’s Excelsior Jones.
Borg says that the menu will be constantly evolving and inspired by the seasons, wholesome eating and current trends. Borg says that all food and drinks will be made in-house with the exception of the venue’s bread which will be sourced from Brasserie Bread.
Giant Designs were behind the Scandinavian-inspired fitout which features whitewashed walls, hanging succulents and comfortable seating.
