Shinjuku-inspired eatery and bar Bang Bang has opened at Darling Square’s Steam Mill Lane.
Inspired by the bars of the iconic Tokyo district, the 85-seat venue offers drinks, food and a dedicated karaoke room.
“We want Bang Bang to deliver a taste of Tokyo’s past and present,” says head of operations Ayako Sugimura.
Head chef Kokubo Yuji’s has designed the menu, which includes omelettes, udon, curries, signature donburi, and ‘The Bang Bang Tebasaki’ – a tower of double-fried chicken wings doused in a peppery soy glaze.
Dinner options span edamame and gyoza along with robata, sushi, sashimi, temputra, salads and noodles.
Drinks include Japanese and international whiskies alongside sake, local craft beer and Australian wines. There’s also a range of cocktails available including ‘otakuastic’ cocktails served in a one-litre butler pump.
