Sydney-based group Applejack Hospitality has sold one of its popular venues, Bondi Hardware.

Bondi Hardware was the first venture for Applejack Hospitality founders Ben Carroll and Hamish Watts who purchased the site in 2010, converting an old hardware store into a restaurant and bar.

Carroll says with Bondi’s dining scene booming, it felt like the perfect time to sell the venue.

“Selling a business is always emotional, particularly when that business was your first,” he says.

“However cutting through the emotional attachment is key to making the right business decision for the company moving forward. Over the years we have seen Bondi’s dining scene come along in leaps and bounds, and being a contributor to that evolution has been an amazing ride.

“Selling Bondi Hardware on a high ensures fond memories of our time in Bondi but allows us to focus on our five other venues.”

Applejack’s remaining venues include Endeavour Tap Rooms in The Rocks, So Cal in Neutral Bay, Della Hyde in Darlinghurst, The Butler Potts Point and The Botanist in Kirribilli.

Bondi Hardware will continue to trade as normal under the new ownership, with no immediate plans for a refurbishment or change.
