The Young Chef and Young Waiter finalists in this year’s Electrolux Appetite for Excellence competition are preparing for the launch of their Hunt and Gather themed pop-up restaurant.
The event will be held at the Electrolux Showcase in Mascot, Sydney, on Sunday 7 August, the eve of the winners’ announcement.
The event is available to just 56 diners, with tickets costing $130.
The Young Waiter and Chef national finalists will pair up to create seven three course meals with matching drinks, with each duo catering for one table of guests.
Focused on a Hunt and Gather theme, finalists will draw inspiration from the Produce Tour that they’re currently on in NSW’s Hunter & Great Lakes region. The group is visiting high profile foodservice suppliers including Little Hill Farm, Pokolbin Purple, Binnorie Dairy, Keith Tulloch Wine, Krinklewood Biodynamic Vineyard, Pukara Estate and Melanda Park Free Range.
The dishes at the Hunt and Gather pop-up will convey the finalists’ food and service philosophies, with guests given an opportunity to pick the finalists’ brains about the workings of the hospitality sector, and how it’s run behind the scenes.
The Young Restaurateur, Young Waiter and Young Chef Electrolux Appetite for Excellence winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 8 August 2016.
