The Orchard at Montague is slated to open in Narre Warren North in January.

The venue is a $66 million development from fruit growers Montague and encompasses a restaurant, pick-your-own-fruit orchard, exhibition space, juice bar and retail store.

“The Orchard provides an engaging opportunity to educate consumers on our history, as well as share our premium fruit production process in a new and exciting way,” says Montague Managing Director Scott Montague.

Stella’s Kitchen will be based off a farm-to-table concept and utilise produce grown on-site.

Josh Repcen has been appointed head chef and is in the process of curating a menu which will include dishes such as beef ragu with pappardelle and duck confit with Montague plums.

Guests will also be able to order takeaway, with options covering everything from pulled pork sliders with apple cider and pickled carrot slaw to lamb skewers with baba ganoush and cumin chapati.

The orchard has more than 2000 trees growing a range of apples and stone fruit, and visitors will be able to sample and buy fruit from Bill’s Orchard Gate.

The site will also house a production facility, with guests able to take tours to learn about fruit processing.

The Orchard at Montague is set to open on 11 January 2021.
