A new 400-seat modern pub and eatery will open within Bannisters Port Stephens on Friday 20 December.
Located below Rick Stein at Bannisters, Cheeky Dog will offer a Mediterranean inspired menu made for sharing.
“I like to think of the experience at Cheeky Dog like family dinners, bringing everyone together for a shared feast,” says Mitch Turner, Bannisters head chef. “We’ve got something for everybody on the menu, from fresh dough pizzas, to antipasti including burrata, parma ham, anchovies in extra virgin olive oil, and Guindilla peppers. There’s also pub favourites like a schnitty and cheeseburger.
“Our pizza dough is made locally in Newcastle, by a gent called Declyn who’s spent time in Italy and London perfecting his craft.”
Architect Tony Freeman is behind the design, which blends indoor and outdoor spaces including a beer garden, bistro and sports bar, while Sydney-based design company MCM House have been engaged to give the space a contemporary feel with steel trussed roofs and exposed timber ceilings.
Cheeky Dog will open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, with Allpress coffee and pastries available from 7am daily.
