The International Wine Challenge has announced the top 30 wines from across the globe.

Wines from 50 countries were judged during blind tasting sessions, with a total of six receiving Champion trophies.

“What sets the International Wine Challenge apart from any other global wine competition is the overtly democratic way in which the wines are judged,” says co-chair Helen McGinn.

“We pride ourselves in having expert judges from all areas of the industry who taste the wines, giving each wine the very best chance to be judged as fairly as possible.”

Four Australian producers are included on the list.

Tasmania’s Tolpuddle Vineyard’s Chardonnay 2018 took out the Champion White trophy.

The Australian Red trophy was won by Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 with the Australian Shiraz trophy secured by Lake Cooper Well Rhapsody Shiraz 2019.

Morris Old Rare Liqueur Premium Topaque received the Australian Fortified trophy.

Justino’s Madeira Terrantez 1978 from Portugal was named Champion of Champions, with the trophy for Champion Sparkling awarded to Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc des Blancs Brut 2008.

The Champion Red trophy was secured by Georgian producer Tbilvino, with New Zealand’s Coal Pit Tiwha Pinot Noir 2018 receiving the Sustainable and New Zealand Red trophies.

Church Road 1 Syrah 2017 was named International Syrah trophy winner, with the producer’s Grand Reserve Chardonnay taking out the New Zealand White trophy.

South Africa’s Groot Constantia Wine Estate’s Sauvigon Blanc 2019 won the category trophy, marking the first time in 10 years the award hasn’t been won by the Loire or New Zealand.
