The team behind Port Melbourne’s Café Lafayette have opened a Grand Lafayette.
Housed over two shop fronts at 9 Clifton Street in Prahran, Grand Lafayette is bigger than it’s sibling, seating over 100 people.
The new destination offers two distinct services catering. For the day-time crowd classic brunch dishes are given a twist with Asian ingredients, while evening guests can enjoy a Japanese all-you-can-eat restaurant.
Taking inspiration from its predecessor Café Lafayette, the new menu will include raindrop cakes (only available during breakfast and lunch), with flavours like Tokyo Express (brown sugar), Angle Kiss (rose), Macha Lover (Japanese Green Tea) and Tiffany Blue (mint).
The all you can menu includes dishes such as chicken karaage, baked scallop or miso grilled salmon. Bao’s are back on the menu again in the evening as are the Instagram-worthy Freakshii.
Open Monday–Friday from 7am to 3pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 3pm, the Grand Lafayette will seat 75 covers in the café area, and have a function space that will seat 30–40 covers. There is also potential for an additional 30 covers in a yet-to-be-confirmed outdoor space.
