The World’s 50 Best Restaurants has released its annual extended rankings, with one Australian fine diner making the cut for 2025.
Josh and Julie Niland’s Sydney restaurant Saint Peter has come in at no.66 for the first time, making a substantial jump from no.98 last year.
Australian chef Dave Pynt’s Singapore wood-fired destination Burnt Ends has taken out the 93rd ranking, with the Michelin-star restaurant consistently appearing on the list, as well as Asia’s 50 Best list, for close to 10 years.
A total of 12 new eateries from different cities have debuted on the extended list, which features restaurants from 37 cities – nine from Asia, 20 from Europe, eight from North America, eight from South America, three from Africa, and two from Oceania.
Vaughan Mabee’s Queenstown restaurant Amisfield has secured spot no.99, and marks the first time the city has been featured. Mexican eatery Arca was the highest entry, coming in at no.67.
“This year’s extended list is a true celebration of global gastronomy, with restaurants spanning six continents and 25 countries – two more countries than last year,” says William Drew, director of content.
A total of 1,120 restaurant experts and ‘well-travelled gourmets’ comprise the voting panel known as The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, which is made up of people from 28 regions, each with a dedicated chairperson.
The top 50 restaurants for 2025 will be revealed during a live ceremony held on 19 June in Turin, Italy.
