Home Comforts: simple lockdown recipes from the world’s best chefs and bartender is now available, featuring recipes from international chefs and bartenders.

Put together by the organisation behind The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, the e-cookbook can be purchased for a $10/£8 (roughly A$15) minimum donation from the 50 Best Bid for Recovery donation site and will raise funds to support the global hospitality community. According to the organisation, funds raised will provide “direct and tangible financial relief for restaurants and bars worldwide as they emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic”.

Independent venues can apply for grants from late July. Additional donations will be made to non-profit organisations: Lee Initiative’s Restaurant Reboot Relief Program and Black Urban Growers (US); Nosso Prato (Brazil); the Eat Out Restaurant Relief Fund (South Africa); Feed the Needy (India); Horeca Next (Belgium); Ambasciatori del Gusto (Italy); Chefs for Spain; Singapore Cocktail Bar Association; and the worldwide Social Gastronomy Movement.

The collection of 50 recipes from chefs featured on the recent 50 Best lists and 25 cocktail pairings from bartenders behind The World’s 50 Best Bars traverses the globe, from Tokyo to San Francisco. Recipes are split into categories: vegetarian, seafood, meat and dessert.

Despite coming from the likes of Alain Passard, Manu Buffara and Vicky Lau, the recipes are designed to be mastered by amateur cooks.

The release of Home Comforts coincides with the impending ‘Bid for Recovery’ Auction of gastronomic experiences and rare items. Bidding on the auction opens on 3 July and closes
on 12 July.

Alongside the cookbook’s launch, 50 Best is launching #50BestRateMyPlate. The Instagram challenge encourages home cooks to share dishes inspired by Home Comforts. Beginning 20 July and running for five weeks, the competition will see 50 Best choose three favourite dishes, which will be shared with the organisations 1.1 million followers. The public will vote for their top pick, with the most voted for plate of the week. The five finalists will win the chance to to be judged by a panel of 50 Best chefs in late August, with the winner receiving two VIP tickets to The World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards event in Antwerp, Flanders in 2021.
