Young Gun of Wine has launched the Wineslinger awards, which is a new initiative that showcases the top 50 venues providing Australia’s best wine experiences.

More than 100 leading sommeliers and winemakers formed a panel to vote on over 300 venues, with Wineslinger editorial director Nick Stock and Mike Bennie collaborating with the panellists to determine the top 50.

“These panellists were selected for their know-how, their taste, and the fact that they are out and about visiting venues near and afar on a constant basis,” says Stock. “They are chosen because they have a keen eye, a killer palate and they know a good time when they see one.”

New South Wales finalists include 10 William St, Fratelli Paradiso, The Dolphin, Restaurant Hubert and Ester.

Bar Liberty, Neighbourhood Wine, Kirk’s Wine Bar and Embla round out the Victorian finalists and South Australia is represented by Clever Little Tailor, La Buvette and Bar Torino.

Western Australian finalists include Budburst Small Bar and Il Lido; ACT finalists feature Aubergine and XO; Queensland is represented by Cru Bar and Cellar and Gerard’s Bistro and Tasmania is headed up by Franklin and Ettie’s Bar & Bottleshop.

The Top 50 list is comprised of pubs, bars and restaurants, and voting is now open to the public to determine the winner.

Voting closes on Sunday 17 June and the winner will be announced at the Young Gun of Wine Awards held on Monday 18 June at MONA, Tasmania.
