Global culinary program The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards will return to London in July this year after it was initially set to be hosted in Moscow, Russia.
It marks the first time the ceremony, which is celebrating its 20th year, and its associated events will be held in London since 2015.
The awards will take place on 18 July in Old Billingsgate and reveal which restaurant will take the place of Noma in the pole position.
“We are thrilled to announce the much-anticipated date for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards 2022 at such an iconic and historic London venue,” says William Drew, director of content.
“We can’t wait to bring the global gastronomic back together in full once again, as well as to share with the world the incredible developments in London’s restaurant scene over recent years.”
Festivities include #50BestTalks, which will see restaurateurs take the stage along with the Chef’s Feast which will hero UK ingredients and a Meet the Chefs roundtable of global talent.
The 2022 event will also include the 50 Best Collaboration Dining series; a new addition to the program.
London chefs and restaurants will team up with visiting 50 Best chefs to create one-night-only dining experiences.
Before the top 50 restaurants for 2022 are revealed, the program will announce the recipients of the Champions of Change, The Icon, One to Watch and the World’s Best Female Chef awards.
Australian bars had their most successful year at the World’s 50 Best Bars Awards, with four venues making the cut.
Restaurants will be looking to emulate this success, with Brae and Attica featuring in the extended list last year at no.57 and no.97 respectively.
Hospitality magazine was on the ground at the Singapore iteration of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2019 and interviewed Aussie-born Chef Dave Pynt from Burnt Ends, which currently sits at no.14 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list.
