Sixpenny co-founder James Parry has been appointed chef de cuisine at David Chang’s Momofuku Ko in New York, according to a report from Gourmet Traveller.

After leaving Sixpenny in 2016, Parry went on to work for Neil Perry’s consultancy business on projects including the new and improved David Jones food halls.

“When the opportunity at Ko appeared, I knew it was the right move for me,” says Parry.

Ko has recently been refurbed, with office and storage space converted into a bar where diners can order a la carte dishes from Parry and executive chef Sean Gray. The chefs will be creating dishes that will potentially make their way on to the restaurant’s tasting menu if they’re well-received.

“Sean is a great guy and we immediately had a rapport when I met with him late last year,” says Parry. “They’re coming into a really exciting and ambitious time and I’m up for the challenge.”

Chang’s Momofuku empire has seen recent expansion, with the group opening their first West Coast venue Majordomo in Los Angeles.
