Gourmet providore, Salt Meats Cheese, has opened a new restaurant and bar in Sydney’s Broadway district.

The menu, created by hatted chef Simona Ciantelli, features New York style burgers with a southern Italian street food influence, including the truffle burger with grilled chicken breast, caramelised Spanish onions, truffled mushroom and gorgonzola sauced served in a milk bun; and the porcetta burger with traditionally seasoned roast pork on a bed of buttered brussel sprouts, crunchy crackles, pickled carrots and Salt Meats Cheese’s handmade mustard.

Alongside burgers are tapas style dishes like the hot fritto with Tuscan crumbed olives stuffed with fresh chilli and manchego cheese; Spanish chorizo and potato croquettes complete with spicy jalapen~o aioli; and Salt Meats Cheese stalwarts egg pappardelle with burnt orange lamb ragu and black lobster pizza.

For dessert, Salt Meats Cheese at Broadway serves its Nutella menu comprising Nutella cartocci, a deep fried pastry with Nutella and custard cream, as well as Nutella heaven cups with cookies and cream gelato, Ferrero Rocher, Raffaelo, Kinder Bueno and Nutella sauce.

Catering to the busy, inner-city population, the Broadway store has introduced a new range of pre-made cocktails served in keepsake bottles. The drinks list offers an updated take on traditional Italian drinks with elderflower spritzes and mezcal negronis featured on the menu along with imported and local wines, Italian beers and Mexican tequilas.

“This is a new concept for us and we are very excited to be sharing the inspiration from our travels and passion for good food and wine with the residents of Broadway,” say co-directors Stefano De Blasi and Edoardo Perlo.

Salt Meats Cheese Broadway is located at 68 Bay St, Ultimo, open every day from 7am-10pm. From Thursday to Sunday to the space will turn into a New York City style bar with local DJs performing.
