Australian Venue Co. has confirmed the 14 May opening of Quarterhouse, a three-floor modern pub, function space, and rooftop cocktail bar in the Melbourne Quarter.
With capacity for 1,400 revellers adjacent to Melbourne’s Southern Cross station and a mere 11-minute walk to Marvel Stadium, the venue hopes to attract pre- and post-game fans, along with diverse corporate functions from nearby offices and weekend get-togethers.
“Quarterhouse is exactly what this part of the CBD has been missing,” says venue manager Luke Bottoms. “It’s everything Melbournians love about a pub; casual and with something for everyone, whilst also offering something unique with our rooftop bar overlooking the Sky Park.”
The ground floor public bar houses a timeless pub with modern elements, serving up hearty meals and cold drinks with live sports available on a 4m LED screen. Banquette and booth seating are on offer with street dining also available.
Upstairs on the first floor ‘The Hall’ is a versatile functions space with terrace, bookable for corporate or private events for up to 240 people.
‘The Rooftop’ bar on the top floor features an open-air wrap-around terrace and offers relaxed indulgence. It opens out onto the new 2,000sqm Sky Park public space suspended 10m above Collins Street, designed by Aspect Studios and Oculus, with nods to the New York High Line and Paris’ Promenade Plantée.
Expect free pool, live music, and DJs spinning the tunes.
Featuring two menus, one curated for each level, the venue looks to blend the quintessential Melbourne pub experience with a Euro gastro-pub flair. The public bar offers small share dishes including fried squid with pickled fennel, lemon and aioli, woodfired flatbread served with olives, hummus and tapenade, as well as modern pub classics including a chicken parma, burgers and a selection of steaks, each served with a house salad, skin on fries, umami butter and choice of jus gras or peppercorn sauce.
On the rooftop, share-style dishes include wagyu beef skewers with a pepperberry jus gras and roast shallots plus seven different woodfired pizzas. There are also larger gastro-pub style dishes including the crumbed pork ribeye with a lemon caper beurre noisette and chives or the pan-fried barramundi served with salsa verde.
Quarterhouse joins the seasoned operator’s 200 other Australian venues in a competitive Docklands location adjoining the CBD, opening 14 May.
