The program for the 2017 Pub Leaders Summit has been revealed, and includes over 20 leading operators, licensees and managers discussing a variety of topics.

Pub Leaders Summit 2017 will be hold on Monday 20 March at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney. The conference portion of the event will cover several issues facing operators, including the changing landscape in pub F&B offerings, opportunities within regional Australia, and the changing marketing landscape for hospitality.

As a national conference, the list of speakers on the day is representative of the variety of operators around the country. Large group operators are represented by the likes of Antony Jones (Merivale, COO) and Grady Patching (Colonial Leisure Group), alongside several single-venue operators such as Bhavani Baumann, owner of The Green Lion. Baumann will discuss her experiences opening Australia’s first vegan pub bistro.

Food offerings are likely to be one of the most talked about streams of operations, starting with the panel ‘Blurring the Lines: Where Pubs and Restaurants Meet’. Panellists for the session are Steven Speed, owner of the hatted The Bellevue; Jordan Toft, executive chef of Coogee Pavilion and The Newport; and Grady Patching, national operations manager of Colonial leisure Group, which owns venues such as Melbourne’s The Botanical and Perth’s Print Hall.

The kitchen is also likely to dominate an afternoon session on HR, where Solotel’s Sarah Maxwell and Jahnavi Hall of Hotel Harry/Dolphin Hotel will no doubt discuss the industry-wide lack of kitchen staff at all levels.

Also taking part in the conference is Louise Heffernan, owner of Girl Friday Solutions, a hospitality mystery shopping firm that has worked with hospitality venues across the country for the last 10 years. Her insights into the customer experience on-premise will be insightful to say the least.
