Sydney restaurant Lucio’s closed its doors earlier in the year, but it’s not the end of the Italian eatery.

Husband and wife team Matteo Galletto and Dieuwke Albertsma (who was a chef at Lucio’s for seven years) and Michela Galletto (Matteo’s sister) have secured a new location for the restaurant within the Noosa Marina.

The trio are taking over the reins from Lucio Galletto and his wife Sally.

The restaurant, dubbed Lucio’s Marina, will be divided into a trattoria and an all-day eatery/aperitivo bar.

“Lucio and I had always been drawn to the idea of a great Italian seafood restaurant, a place by the water, where amazing Australian produce was the star of the plate and everything was served and presented with care,” says Matteo.

“Lucio has already put together concepts for dishes, bar snacks and panini. He has a wealth of ideas that never would have really worked within the constraints of our old Paddington terrace that we are both very excited to share with our new customers.”

The menu will cover everything from snacks and antipasti to handmade pasta, seafood options (Mooloolaba prawns, Hervey Bay scallops, Moreton Bay bugs) and Lucio’s signature tagliolini alla granseola.

House seafood salumi will also feature alongside a raw seafood bar, dry-aged whole fish and steaks.

Lucio’s Marina is slated to open in November.
