The New South Wales Government has confirmed the state’s roadmap to recovery has been eased once again.

After the state reaches the 95 per cent double-dose vaccination target or 15 December, whichever occurs first, COVID-19 restrictions will ease considerably.

COVID safety plans will become optional for businesses and masks will only need to be worn by front-of-house hospitality staff who are not fully vaccinated.

Venues will not need to adhere to any capacity limits and proof of vaccination will no longer be required by Public Health Order.

In addition, QR code check-ins will only be mandatory at venues that are classified as high risk, which includes pubs, small bars, registered clubs and nightclubs.

“The easing of these restrictions will allow people to get out and enjoy summer providing a boost for some of our hardest industries as we do everything we can to ensure we keep people safe as we learn to live with COVID,” said NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet.

“This is a timely boost for businesses just before the busy Christmas and summer holiday periods,” added Minister for Jobs, Investment and Tourism Stuart Ayres.

“I want to encourage everyone to go out and support NSW businesses – whether it’s a meal out, booking a regional trip or holiday shopping at your favourite local store, this is a prime time to enjoy the new freedoms and help NSW businesses bounce back.”

However, international workers will no longer be able to enter the country from 1 December, with the date pushed back to 15 December in response to the emergence of the Omicron COVID-19 variant.

Only those with exemptions will be allowed to enter Australia.
