News Corp announces new restaurant awards campaign

News Corp Australia’s Sunday newspapers will name the best restaurants in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane this month, as part of a new campaign, delicious.100.

The month-long campaign, sponsored by OpenTable, will see the mastheads’ food reviewers name the top 100 restaurants in both Sydney and Melbourne, and the top 10 restaurants in Brisbane.

delicious.100 will be supported by a $2 million marketing campaign, and will be promoted in the Sunday Herald Sun, The Sunday Telegraph and The Sunday Mail, delicious. and all of the brands’ digital platforms.                               

The top restaurants that form part of the delicious.100 will be revealed in a 20-page lift out in The Sunday Telegraph and Sunday Herald Sun, and a spread in The Sunday Mail in late November.

News Corp Australia’s executive editor – Sundays Jill Baker said “With the rise of social media and ‘food-selfies’ people want and expect to be able to access celebrity chef and restaurant-quality experiences each time they venture out for a meal,” she said.

“These awards will deliver a comprehensive and authoritative guide to the best eateries in each capital city, recommending not only the premium restaurants, but also those that cater for families and less formal occasions.”

Once the list is published, readers will then have the chance to vote online in a People’s Choice Award in each state.

Winners will be recognised in 13 categories:

  • Best new restaurant
  • Best family friendly
  • Best service
  • Best date night restaurant
  • Best restaurant table with a view
  • Best value (under $100 for two)
  • Best desserts
  • Best drinks list
  • Best Asian
  • Best Italian
  • Best French
  • Sunday’s best
