Luke Mangan is gearing up to bring Luke’s Kitchen back to the Sydney dining scene next month.

The chef closed the doors to the venue’s Waterloo location in March last year, but promised the concept would return.

“As we finalise the details, you may see more than just one Luke’s Kitchen turning up in some amazing locations,” the chef wrote at the time. “So we’re not saying farewell but watch this space.”

And now, the first location has been confirmed.

Luke’s Kitchen will take up residence in the newly developed Kimpton Margot Hotel on Sydney’s Pitt Street, which opens on 1 February.

The restaurant will offer guests and visitors a la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner alongside a raft of Australian and international wines.

Mangan took to Instagram to confirm the news and address the skills shortage the industry is currently facing.

“As I prepare to open the brand new Luke’s Kitchen at the Kimpton ‘Margot’ Hotel in Sydney in a few weeks time, I’ve gotta tell you it hasn’t been easy putting together our crew!” wrote Mangan.

“The skills crisis gripping the hospitality industry is real. As it stands, we won’t be able to open at full capacity, we just won’t have the staff!”

Kimpton will offer guests additional food and beverage options including The Wilmot Bar, which will take inspiration from the hotel’s 1930s aesthetic.

More details to come.
