Fast-food giant KFC has ventured into the plant-based sector for the first time with a new product.
Wicked Popcorn combines the spices used to make the brand’s Wicked Wings with the format of popcorn chicken.
“We’re excited to serve up Wicked Popcorn – an innovative product that offers more choice on our menu,” says KFC Australia CMO Sally Spriggs.
“We’re always looking to treat our fans with new products, so we hope they’ll enjoy this meat-free option which offers that great KFC taste our fans know and love.”
The new ‘chicken’ addition is available for a limited time at 14 KFC restaurants on the New South Wales South Coast until 5 September.
Diners can purchase Wicked Popcorn in snack size, in a bowl or in a combo, with the bites also served with a new lime ranch dipping sauce.
KFC is the latest fast casual player to enter the plant-based sector, with McDonald’s recently launching the McPlant® burger with Beyond Meat and Hungry Jacks experiencing a hit with the Rebel Whopper®.
