Gregory Llewellyn and Naomi Hart’s restaurant Hartsyard will be in the hands of new owners from 22 December.

The pair launched the much-loved venue on Enmore Road seven years ago and confirmed the news on the restaurant’s Instagram account.

The venue’s head chef Jarrod Walsh will be taking over the business in a month with his partner.

“It’s time,” reads the post. “Jarrod’s talent is immense, but so too is his capacity to lead and teach, to continue the respectful work environment we were determined to create.”

Walsh began working at the venue in January 2018, taking over from Nikki Waples. Llewellyn spoke to Hospitality on the restaurant’s revised culinary direction which coincided with the arrival of the new chef.

“I wanted to cook new things,” said Llewellyn. “Our head chef Jarrod Walsh was on his way, so it made sense to act on it all at once.”

No word on what’s next for the husband and wife team, besides a well-deserved break.

“We have had a glorious time,” says Hart. The friends we’ve made through guests, staff and industry have added such richness to our lives. The experiences we’ve had, the books we’ve written, the bars we’ve opened, the mistakes we’ve made … we are braver but more cautious, calmer, wiser, more nuanced, more perceptive, so grateful and so, so tired.”
