The World’s 50 Best Restaurants and The World’s 50 Best Bars have confirmed 50 Next will make a comeback in 2022.

The unranked list of 50 individuals under the age of 35 debuted in 2021, and saw our very own Josh Niland, Jo Barrett, Matt Stone and Josh Gilbert recognised in the inaugural edition.

Global applications for the 2022 list have been open since August last year, with the top 50 set to be announced during a live ceremony in Bilbao, Spain.

“50 Next celebrates the next generation and its talent, passion and drive to create a better future,” says William Drew, director of content for 50 Best.

Young professionals will be highlighted under the categories of gamechanging producers; tech disruptors; empowering educators; entrepreneurs; science innovators; hospitality pioneers and trailblazing activists.

The second iteration aims to connect people who are working within the food and drink sector, and will also see a one-day event held on 24 June featuring speeches, interviews and panel discussions from figures on the list as well as representatives from the Best of the Best initiative.
