East End Wine Bar has opened in Hawthorn East, Melbourne.
Prior to an extensive renovation, the heritage-listed building was occupied by Young’s Auction House, which closed in 2015 before the space was split into two shopfronts.
“One of the biggest draw cards to this project was the space we acquired, Young’s Auction House has been a staple in the area for over 80 years, so to be able to transform this heritage building into an elegant wine bar was a no brainer,” says co-owner Rich Donovan.
East End has capacity for 130 guests across the indoor space and outdoor courtyard and offers a selection of wines from across the globe.
The food offering has been designed around the wines, with options including pizzas, preserved meats and small dishes.
East End also has a bottle shop on site with a focus on low-yielding wine producers and old world masters.
