Australian diners can now make restaurant reservations without picking up the phone, thanks to a new partnership between Dimmi and Amazon’s smart assistant Alexa.

The new feature allows users to link Alexa to their Dimmi account, enabling voice reservations at more than 4000 restaurants.

Users simply say “Alexa open Dimmi”, then she’ll ask for the restaurant name, preferred date, time and number of people dining to find the best options.

Alexa will then confirm the reservation right on the spot and send an email with all the information.

“While online reservations are becoming the new norm, the ability to do this hands free via Alexa takes it to the next level,” says Jared Chapman, Dimmi’s managing director. “Our customers just want to be able to book whenever, wherever, as easily as possible.”

The Dimmi skill will be available soon on voice-controlled speakers such as Amazon Echo and Echo Dot that have Alexa built in.
