Jansen Domantay has expanded his Melbourne footprint with the launch of Citizen café in Murrumbeena.
Citizen is the third venue for Domantay (Spilt Milk, One Misty Guy), who has teamed up with Aaron and Zane Kerschner to launch the local café. “We share the same vision of connecting with the community and truly appreciate the value of a loyal customer base,” says Domantay.
The café is located in an 80-year-old milk bar which has undergone a significant renovation. The 35-seat venue now features banquette seating, an outdoor garden and kitchen garden.
Citizen is brewing Padre coffee and is open for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast dishes include banana pancakes, avocado on toast, seasoned scrambled eggs and truffled mushrooms.
For lunch, diners can choose from a poke bowl, mum’s chicken curry, quinoa pasta and an open veggie sandwich with seared rosemary tomatoes, olives, pine nuts, Spanish onion, feta, avocado and basil on sourdough.
The café is open seven days from 7am until 4pm.
