Melbourne restaurateur Chris Lucas has confirmed he will open a third restaurant in the city this year.

Grill Americano is slated to launch in October this year at 101 Collins Street.

The 145-seat restaurant and bar’s entrance will be located on Flinders Lane and boast a fit-out inspired by Venetian architecture.

“I love the energy and architecture of my city, and I am excited to honour these great buildings with beautiful restaurants people can enjoy,” says Lucas.

“It is more important now than ever before to keep Melbourne in its rightful place as one of the world’s greatest food destinations.”

A bespoke wood grill and wood oven from Naples will form a key part of the kitchen, with the menu covering Italian classics such as Bistecca alla Fiorentina and a range of handmade pasta options.

“My restaurants are about storytelling, about honouring the location, creating a space between fantasy and reality,” says Lucas.

“Restaurants should take you on a journey where you make your own experience.”

In other Lucas Restaurants news, Martin Benn and Vicki Wild’s highly anticipated Society and Yakimono at 80 Collins is slated to open shortly, with an official opening date soon to be confirmed.
