Rivage Hospitality, the group behind French brasseries Franca and Armorica, has opened the doors on Le Frérot, an all day café bistro in the heart of Potts Point.
Le Frérot, which means little brother in French, is positioned alongside Franca on Macleay Street. It will open seven days from morning to late evening to cater to Sydney’s growing demand for flexible dining.
“This new café, bar, and bistro will bring a fresh French concept to the neighbourhood, right alongside our beloved Franca,” says group Managing Director Andrew Becher. “It’s a natural little brother to Franca, with familiar nods to what has made it so successful, but with its own unique character and energy.”
Becher hopes the restaurant will add “an exciting new layer” to the group’s current offering. Aiming to complement Franca’s “special occasion” status, Rivage designed the restaurant to be part of everyday life.
Heading up the restaurant is Executive Chef José Saulog who has developed a menu that evolves throughout the day. Breakfast-goers can enjoy boulangerie treats, steak and eggs, Moreton Bay bug benedict, and spanner crab omelettes, while lunchtime brings casual sandwiches, tuna nicoise salad, and smoked duck salad with walnuts, radicchio, and pickled beetroot.
In the evening, the bistro serves Black Angus hanger steaks with bottomless frites, alongside the likes of mussels in white wine and kombu butter, Berkshire pork cutlets, and roast Wollemi duck breasts.
The restaurant is located at shop 3, 81 Macleay Street Potts Point. For the first fortnight the café will open seven days, while the bistro will open Wednesday to Sunday.
