The Australian Gin Awards have announced the winners for 2019.
More than 150 gins entered the competition which was judged by Bill Lark (Chairman), Mikey Enright, Scott Fitzsimons, Lindsay Silcox, Lyn Lark, Genise Hollingworth, Philip Moore and Glenn McPhee.
Gins were placed in six categories: classic dry, contemporary, matured, old Tom, Australian navy and flavoured.
Ultimately, Never Never Distillers took out the Best in Show award for their Southern Strength Gin, which judges described as “delicious on the palate rising to a rich high point”. The gin also won the Classic Dry category.
Archie Rose’s Distiller’s Strength gin took out the award for best contemporary gin and The West Winds Gin’s Barrel Expedition 11 won the matured category.
The Old Tom category was won by Kangaroo Island Spirits’ KIS Old Tom, Darby-Norris Distillery won best flavoured with their Blueberry gin and Mt Uncle Distillery won best Australian navy with their Botanic Australia Navy Strength gin.
