Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants for 2020 have been announced, with the ceremony streaming online.
The celebrations were slated to be held in the Saga Prefecture in Japan, however the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Odette in Singapore snagged the no.1 position for the second time and retained the titles of The Best Restaurant in Asia and The Best Restaurant in Singapore.
“It’s very rewarding and an amazing feeling to be recognised by our peers and people in the food and wine industry,” said Odette chef Julien Royer. “I strongly believe there are many awesome restaurants in this part of the world, and so we take this with a lot of humility and integrity.”
The 2020 iteration included seven new entrants, with Japan the most represented country.
The Chairman in Hong Kong took out the no.2 position followed by Den in Tokyo, Belon in Hong Kong and Burnt Ends in Singapore, run by Australia’s very own Dave Pynt.
