Shell House hospitality group has announced Alex Kirkwood as their newly appointed food and beverage director.

Kirkwood was Aria’s general manager where he spent over a decade leading the venue’s award-winning beverage and wine program.

“This is an incredible opportunity for me to join the progressive, creative and dynamic team at Shell House, and bring the whole venue to life in a few weeks,” says Kirkwood.

 “I’m so grateful for my time and experience with Solotel and Matt Moran’s restaurants, and I can’t wait to continue expanding my knowledge and passion for food and wine, in my new role across Shell House.”

Before his time with Solotel, Kirkwood previously carried out stints at fine diners such as Quay, Rockpool bar and grill and Momofuku Seiobo.

He will be working closely alongside Restaurateur Brett Robinson, Culinary Director Joel Bickford and the beverage team overseeing food and beverage across the group’s four establishments.

“We’re absolutely honoured to have Alex join our team at Shell House, which already includes some of the country’s best hospitality talent,” says Robinson.

“Known for pushing the boundaries with wine, and creating award winning wine programs, I am so excited to work with Alex and showcase the incredible food and beverage we have to offer through his skill and experience.”

Kirkwood will start on the 15 November with the launch of Sky Bar, Clocktower Bar, and The Dining Room.
