The Australian Capital Territory’s (ACT) finest cafés, restaurants and catering businesses were awarded at Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering HOSTPLUS Awards for Excellence held at the Hyatt Hotel in Canberra on 11 September.

The winners in this year’s major categories included:

  • Wild Duck Fine Asian Cuisine, Kingston Foreshore — Restaurant of the Year
  • Bookplate, Parkes — Café of the Year
  • Hyatt Hotel Canberra — A Park Hyatt Hotel, Yarralumla — Caterer of the Year
  • Marble & Grain, Canberra — Consumer Vote Award

In addition to receiving major awards, Wild Duck Fine Asian Cuisine also won the award for the ACT’s best Asian restaurant, while bookplate also received the Award for Café Dining and The Hyatt Hotel Canberra received an honourable mention in the Events Caterer category.

R&CA CEO Juliana Payne congratulated each of the ACT hospitality businesses who had taken part in the 2017 Awards on behalf of the Association.

“I’m absolutely delighted to recognise the outstanding efforts of all the Award-winners here tonight,” says Payne.

“It’s easy to forget all the hard work and countless hours that goes into making each of these cafés, restaurants and catering businesses so hugely successful.

“No hospitality business can truly thrive without the tremendous dedication of the owners and their staff and paying tribute to that is what the Awards for Excellence is all about.

“Each of the businesses recognised as part of tonight’s Awards for Excellence have contributed to making the ACT’s hospitality sector a must-see experience for locals and visitors alike.”

Many of the winning businesses announced as part of the ACT awards will compete at the national Awards for Excellence held at Peninsula in Melbourne on Monday 30 October.
