The De Fraga Group has breathed new life into Richmond pub The Kingston, which has undergone a $1.5-million revamp.
The Melbourne venue closed in May 2021 for renovations, which has seen the public bar and parlour returned to its former glory and the addition of new restaurant Marble & Pearl.
“We wanted to bring a unique dining experience to Richmond, where exceptional food and wine meets a classic level of service, in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere,” says Publican Jon De Fraga.
“Whilst the locals are the heart and soul of The Kingston, we’re excited to attract and welcome a fresh new customer base through our doors to experience Marble & Pearl.”
The restaurant revolves around cooking over fire thanks to the installation of a parilla charcoal grill.
Head Chef Yallambar Bantawa has designed a menu that reflects the skills he learned during time working alongside Carlos Lopez in South America.
The menu sees a focus on quality ingredients prepared using elevated techniques alongside a long list of classics.
Dishes include beef Wellington made with eye fillet, whole flounder pan-fried in butter and parsley and chargrilled king brown mushrooms.
A caviar cart will also do the rounds throughout the restaurant for those partial to a bump.
The Kingston will open from 15 July Wednesday to Sunday from 12pm.
