Offered in Sydney and Melbourne this June, the Court of Master Sommeliers Introductory and Certified accreditation program is now accepting registrations.

First held in Australia in 2008, the courses have since seen 789 sommeliers participate in the examinations. This has resulted in 506 Introductory Sommelier graduates, 221 Certified Sommelier graduates, 17 Advanced Level Master Sommeliers and two (out of a total of 230 across the globe) Master Sommeliers: Merivale’s Franck Moreau and Rockpool 1989’s Sebastian Crowther.

The Court of Master Sommeliers was established in 1977 to promote excellence in hotel, restaurant and club beverage services. The intensive education and examination program guides aspiring Masters through four levels of coursework and examination, culminating in the Master Sommelier Diploma Examination.

“We’re thrilled to offer Court of Master Sommeliers Certification in Melbourne for the first time in three years …  There is strong demand for CMS certification throughout Victoria from sommeliers and beverage professionals. We’ve been overwhelmed by demand for Court of Master Sommelier certification in Australia. The 2015 Sydney courses were fully booked with extensive waitlists,” said Moreau.
